Imaginative Photo Alteration – artist/ instructor: Lori Barker
Sat. May 23rd

time: 10-1 (or so)
This class will introduce you to altering photographs through experimentation. We will focus on fun techniques using household products, tools, crayons and inks. Class time will be spent exploring ways to ‘destroy’ photos and then bringing them back to life with our imagination.
After stamping, rubbing and coloring the images we will take home a ‘sampler’ of techniques to add to your creative work or a finished piece, matted and ready to frame.
There are no mistakes, just out of the box experiments leading to great promises!
Workshop fee $50
Participants (all Skill Levels) should bring your love for experimenting and:
·
10 or more color photos (any size) of obscure landscapes, images of people, blurry or out of focus are okay (don't worry about being a "good" photo) BUT MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT PRINTED FROM A COMPUTER. If you have an image from your digital camera or on disk, have them DEVELOPED at a one-hour place, which will give you a photo with the emulsion coating that will be altered in this class.
·
Scissors
·
rubber gloves, aprons or work clothes
·
shallow pans, disposable are ok (at least the size of your photos)
Optional Supplies: I will have plenty (but if you have any of these materials please bring them with you)
·
Acrylic gel medium or rubber cement.
·
Water-based markers (washable markers by Crayola are okay)
·
Watercolor crayons and/or water-soluble oil pastels (Portfolio's by Crayola– you can find this in the art aisle in Staples or Office Max).
·
Rubber stamps, stamp pads, watercolors, mark-making tools
·
Eyelets and eyelet setter.
·
Gesso white and/or black
·
Small collage materials, images, poetry, etc.
